2023 Premier Merlot

Our 2023 Premier Merlot was sourced primarily from our Haynes Wood Vineyard near Osoyoos, benefitting from one of the warmest microclimates in British Columbia. The vineyard’s deep sandy soils and extended sun exposure provide optimal ripening conditions, leading to fully developed tannins and rich fruit expression.

The 2023 Okanagan Valley vintage began with a cool, wet spring, followed by a warm, dry summer that delivered exceptional ripening. Mild fall weather allowed for extended hang time, resulting in balanced acidity, concentrated flavors, and refined tannins. 

Rich and structured, this Merlot opens with aromas of blackberries, plum, and spice. The palate is layered with black cherry, blackberry compote, and a touch of Italian plum, framed by ample, refined tannins. Balanced and elegant, with a long, smooth finish.
