Regent is a hardy hybrid red grape that was created in 1967 by Professor Alleweldt by crossing a Silvaner with Müller-Thurgau. Regent received varietal protection in 1994. It still remains popular in German growing regions today.
In 2022, our Regent vines produced sweet black-blueberries early in the season. The Regent vineyards standout with the fresh green leaves turning a noticeable scarlet red and purple in the fall harvest season. In 2022, the grapes did not take long to ripen and thankfully reached optimal ripeness before the frost and snow came overnight.
Aromas of vanilla, blackberry, plum, cherry and fig on the nose. Notes of dark red fruit, blackberry, blueberry with soft tannins and a smooth long finish of caramel and licorice complete the palate. Limited production, as only 444 cases were produced.
Pairing: BBQ pulled pork or a vegetarian chili.
